Connacht Rugby

Discovery & Planning

Connacht Rugby is one of the four professional rugby teams in Ireland. The club is based in the city of Galway and competes in both the BKT United Rugby Championship and the European Rugby Challenge Cup. We conducted extensive research on the target audience, including their preferences, behaviour, and expectations. This research helped us identify the key features and functionalities required for their club website.

Additionally, it was crucial to streamline the ticket purchasing process and integrate with the ticketing provider Future Ticketing. The website also integrates with Opta Sports to provide real-time match statistics and results/player data.

CCD have worked with Connacht Rugby for many years and has recently launched a redesign of their existing website with us to align with a club-wide branding refresh. The new website is on brand, modern, visually appealing, and user-friendly.

Design and Development

The design process began with wireframing, where we created a skeletal framework of the website. This helped us to visualise the layout and functionality of the website. Once the wireframe was finalised, we moved on to the design phase. We created several design mockups and presented them to the client for feedback. The design mockups were refined until the final design was approved. With the redesign, we incorporated the new branding into the design, reviewing sections that could be improved and implementing new layouts and elements.

The development phase involved building the website using modern web development technologies. We integrated CCD's bespoke CMS, 'The Control Panel', to allow the client to easily manage the website's content. The Future Ticketing integration allows for a secure payment gateway to enable users to purchase tickets seamlessly, and provide Connacht with the flexibility to tailor individual matches to accommodate the different levels of hospitality packages available on each individual match.

Integrations

Opta Sports, a leading provider of real-time sports data. This integration allowed users to access real-time match statistics, player statistics and results, enhancing their overall user experience.

Future Ticketing provides a custom ticketing platform. The Website Integration allows Connacht more flexibility when selling match tickets and provides a better user experience for their fans.
